Highlights or a root touch-up?

Both freshen your colour, but they solve different problems. Here is how to tell which you need.

When colour starts to look tired, it is easy to book the wrong thing. The two most common fixes are a root touch-up and fresh highlights.

A root touch-up

This refreshes the colour at the roots where your own shade has grown in. It suits single-shade colour and keeps the look consistent between larger appointments.

Highlights

Highlights add lighter strands for brightness and movement. They come as a half head, which focuses on the top and crown, or a full head, which covers every section.

How to choose

  • A line at your roots is the problem: a root touch-up
  • Your colour looks flat overall: highlights
  • You are not sure: ask for a colour consultation, which Hair Nova offers free

Before any colour

A patch test is needed before colour. Ask when you book so it does not delay your appointment.
